Many children are earning "Twinkle Toes" now which means they have surpassed 10 miles.
We've been mixing holidays with and without music. Children have learned variations of The Bunny Hop and Hora, played a variety of tag games with eggs, practiced their jump rope, cooperation and support skills. The Explorers have been learning volleyball skills and have played variations of that great beach game.
Have a great spring break everyone. We are thankful for the MPR for most of our activities.

The Explorers are beginning to work on physical fitness testing. Students have been learning and practicing the different fitness expectations. They will select a target goal and work towards earning either The President's Award, The National Award, or the Fitness Award. You will find more information at the website posted on this blog.

The primary classes learned a singing game this week: "Run Children Run." The game and song depict the lives of children who belonged to plantation owners and how they found their own way to play.
Primary classes also "tested" a variety of objects and rated how easy or difficult they were to toss and catch. They graphed their assessments as a class, using the objects tested and then gathered and discussed information generated by their graphs. The items tested were: a 7" Gator Skin Ball, a bean bag, a 3" nylon ball and a wacky noodle.

The Super Stars have done a variety of push-ups over the last few months. They began the year with "Chicken Pushups." Each month they take on another: Ghost Push-Ups, Turkey and Santa Push-Ups. Finding a push-up for January was a puzzle until one child suggested a "Blowing" push up. What followed was a Raspberry Push-Up that left all of us laughing.

About Me

About Me
Nancy Nelson
I love teaching! I especially love teaching P.E.. I knew I wanted to teach when I was very young. It seemed that no matter what I was doing, I loved it best when I could help someone else learn or understand something that was challenging. When the people I teach succeed and feel good about themselves, that becomes my success, too.
My first official teaching position was in 1976. I taught physical education through the Early Childhood Education Program in California. From then to now, I have taught classroom subjects and P.E.and I have facilitated and trained in the field of adventure education.

My students have ranged in age from three-year olds through adults. I have worked with alternative high school students, children in Mexico and teachers & counselors throughout the U.S.. I have been lucky enough to work with folks in several countries.

This is my fourth year working with the children at Seabury School. We are all very fortunate to be at this special place, with the people who make Seabury a safe, stimulating and fun place to learn and grow.
